When you visit Loftus Family Dental for the first time,
you will experience a comprehensive examination of your oral health. One of our highly trained staff members will take a complete series of x-rays,
photographs of your teeth and record your previous dental treatment. Then the dentist will review your medical history, check your x-rays for signs of decay and
infection, and examine your mouth for oral cancer and any other areas of concern.
Even if you have had regular dental care at another office, our doctor
will want to become familiar with your overall health. This will
enable him to identify any changes or problems in the future.
Make sure you mention all of the following
during your discussion:
-
Dental history – past problems, treatments,
surgeries
-
Dental health – your habits, current bothersome or
sensitive areas
-
Overall health – everything, even if you don’t think it
relates to your mouth
-
Medications – current medications and dosages
-
Also...
Your fears – many people experience dental-related anxiety. We want
your visit to be stress-free and relaxing, so we offer a variety of calming services:
-
-
Cozy blankets and neck pillows
-
DVD players (watch one of our movies or
bring your own!)
-
Gentle anesthetics
-
FREE nitrous oxide ("laughing
gas")
-
Following your exam, we will explain your treatment plan. This
will include the doctor's findings and your exam results, your treatment options, and scheduling your
treatment plan. We will also go over your payment options and how much of your treatment your insurance
is willing to cover. During this consultation you will have the opportunity to ask any questions
you have about your treatment plan. Don't be afraid to ask about anything you don't understand!
We want you to be as informed as possible about your treatment.
