Women can be
affected by all of the dental health issues covered on our general dental health page. However, pregnant women should pay even closer attention to their oral
health.
Pregnant women with
periodontal (gum) disease may be up to seven times more likely to have a baby born
prematurely*. This is throught to occur because gum
disease may trigger increased levels of the biological fluids that include labor. Periodontal treatment during
pregnancy can reduces premature birth by 84%*.

If you are currently pregnant or considering becoming
pregnant, request an appointment
with one of our doctors today! This is an important step to ensure the health of you
and your baby. It is best if your dental treatment occurs in the first trimester - but we can take care of
you at any point during your pregnancy.
